Our 3rd graders’ Water Heroes visit to Chania’s municipal aqueduct

Saint John’s water Tank stands upon a little hill of St John’s district in the city of Chania. The construction of this imposing stone building started in 1913 and was completed in 1927. Our students had the chance to watch closely ?(observe) this major infrastructure which supplies our city with high quality water.

Aqueducts constitute timeless symbols of human ingenuity and persistence. Not only did these remarkable constructions provide sufficient water supplies in the ancient cities, reinforcing public health and civil life, but they also represent our ancestors’ incredible engineering know how.
