The Magic of Wetlands for Crete's Migratory Birds

In our exciting adventure in E1 class, we became bird experts! We split into four teams, each exploring a different amazing bird: the swamp duck, yellow-breasted sandpiper, white-throated kingfisher, and black-winged teal. We learned all about these birds and how they rely on wetlands during their long journeys.

We asked fascinating questions like: How do they find their way? Where do they sleep? What dangers do they face? How do they travel across continents? Then, we shared our discoveries with our classmates.

Next, we imagined the world from a bird's-eye view and drew what wetlands and other places look like from above. We even created our own illustrated stories with short dialogues, inspired by the amazing work of students from the Graphic Design department.

Through our stories, we uncovered the challenges wetlands face, such as water levels dropping due to human pollution, noise pollution threatening waterfowl, severe droughts in some parts of the world, and the sometimes overwhelming effects of industrialization.

Together, we learned how important it is to protect these magical places for our feathered friends!
