On Tuesday, November 19th, the 3rd graders embarked on an exciting adventure to the lake of Agia Marina, in cooperation with the Environmental Education Center of Vamos. The program, titled "Water is an Element and a haunt" was designed to be both fun and educational, and it certainly lived up to its name.
The children had the chance to delve into the fascinating world of water, learning about its crucial role in our daily lives as well as the myths and traditions that surround this essential yet mysterious element. They toured the area, taking in the breathtaking beauty of the natural landscape, and learned about the significance of this artificial lake for the community of Chania.
Equipped with binoculars, telescopes, and microscopes, the students observed the unique flora and fauna of the wetland. They marveled at the diverse plant and animal life, gaining a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of nature. The children also participated in a theatrical game using compasses, where they learned to navigate and find their way in the natural environment.
This hands-on experience not only enhanced their understanding of water and its importance but also sparked their curiosity and creativity. The day was filled with laughter, discovery, and a sense of wonder as the students explored the wonders of nature and the vital role that water plays in sustaining life.
