The children of the 5th grade went on an excursion to the beautiful waters of the river Almyros in Georgioupolis. This was not an ordinary excursion. They became budding scientists, ready to roll up their sleeves and become guardians of the aquatic ecosystem! As part of their work on water management, they carried out real-world water quality tests. Equipped with sensors, collection containers and lots of enthusiasm, the students felt like real explorers, ready to uncover the secrets of the river.
Under the guidance of their teachers, the children carefully collected water samples, identifying tiny creatures and measuring important indicators such as pH levels, conductivity, temperature and turbidity. They learned that their actions could make a real difference in protecting this vital habitat, fostering a deep connection with nature and empowering them to become lifelong stewards of the environment. They will communicate their results at a special event to be held by the school on 10 June.
