Thursday, May 8 was a day full of magic and discovery! The great students of the 5th grade had an amazing encounter with a real water explorer, Mr. Nektarios Kourgiolas!
Mr. Kourgiolas, an inspiring man who knows the secrets of water, came from the Institute of Olive, Subtropical Plants and Vine to talk to us about the most precious treasure of the Earth: water!
Imagine, children, that water is like a magic potion that gives life to everything! And if we don't take care of it, we might miss it one day.
With a voice as warm as the sun, Mr. Kourgiolas answered all the incredible questions the children had. He talked about places hidden under the earth, the water table, springs that give cool water, ponds and large lakes. We learned how we can all work together to care for these gifts of nature so that they are good for everyone.
You know what else is amazing? Mr. Kourgiolas showed us how we can be little scientists and check if the water we drink and that in the ponds and rivers is clean and healthy! With some magical tools like a ph-meter, a conductivity meter, a thermometer and a turbidity meter we did experiments with different types of water and discovered their secrets!
We saw in the children's eyes the sparkle of curiosity and the joy of discovery. They filled us with hope for the future, because they showed us how smart they are and how quickly they learn new things.
Mr. Kourgiolas, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this wonderful conversation! It was like a journey into the magical world of water. We look forward to seeing you soon for new adventures and discoveries! Be well always!
